BIOGRAPHY

Dr Emma Henderson has thirty years of experience working as a General Adult Psychiatrist within the NHS. She worked almost entirely in outpatients within Oxfordshire Adult Mental Health Teams where the work included all major diagnoses. Patients were both acutely unwell and stabilised with chronic symptoms. Dr Henderson has also worked in several other specialties, including a fortnightly Haematology clinic for ten years and completed General Practice training. This led to a well rounded knowledge of both Psychiatric and Physical symptoms and their interplay. Believing that each person’s journey through life shapes how a diagnosis presents, Dr Henderson values a holistic approach in which it is not just the symptoms of a diagnosis which are important but also their impact on the person's life.

Dr Henderson has a special interest in Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry, and due to the multifaceted characteristics of these diagnoses, the holistic approach is especially important. Feedback, both from patients and colleagues, has highlighted that this understanding is consistently reflected in her patient centered approach.
